Is Digitizer a service?
No. Digitizer is a software product you purchase and install on your computer. You
create the drawings yourself and they are stored on your computer. You can reopen

Digitizer has been on the market for over 10 years with thousands of licenses sold.
Originally it was designed to do drawings and takeoffs from paper blueprints. In
recent years it was updated to handle electronic blueprints and now satellite images.

What is the difference between RoofCAD and Digitizer?
RoofCAD and Digitizer run on the same CAD platform and share the same interface.
You can purchase each on their own or combine them. Here's what you can do with
each module:
RoofCAD
- Make roof drawings from rough site sketches, complete with takeoff quantities
- Create detail drawings from scratch or modify manufacturer’s details
- Spice up your drawings with photos, arrows and more
Digitizer
Digitizer allows you to create drawings/takeoffs from satellite images, electronic
plans & paper plans. To work with paper plans you also need a large format digitizing

Do I need both a RoofCAD and Digitizer licence?
That’s up to you. RoofCAD and Digitizer combined make the ultimate roof drawing
and takeoff tool. However, if all you want to do is create drawings and takeoffs
from satellite images, you can get away with just Digitizer. It's up to you. Remember

How accurate is it?
Extremely accurate. The satellite and aerial image services are dead accurate, our
software is dead accurate, it is up to you to click your mouse accurately on the
image. Poor image quality will make this harder to do but the images do not have
to be perfect to be very accurate. Return to the top...
Can I do all my roofs from satellite/aerial imagery?
No. Although much of the country is covered, it is not 100%. Also, some of the images
can be older and the quality will vary.
This is all changing quickly however. With quickly improving technology and competition,
better images are coming online. Our customers report that on average they can draw

How long does is take to do a drawing/takeoff?
A good example is to tell you that each of the roofs in our "How it works section"
above, each took 10 minutes to draw. Thats from the point where you load the satellite

Are there templates included?
Yes, we have commercial and residential templates for all paper sizes, from 8-1/2"
x 11" to 36" x 48". The templates include a legend of symbols with descriptions
and a title block area where you can put your company name and address. The templates
are fully customizable so you can completely change the look if you want.

Are there any symbols included?
There are over 70 premade roofing symbols such as curbs, drains, scuppers, roof
vents etc. If you own a RoofCAD license, you can even make your own.
